Velaw AG is a consulting boutique specializing in compliance, risk, and legal matters. We combine in-depth expertise in the financial sector with intelligent technology and primarily support financial service providers and selected regulated companies in the efficient, practical, and future-oriented implementation of governance, compliance, and risk management requirements. Our consulting services are consistently digitally enhanced with VELA, our proprietary RegTech solution.

To strengthen our compliance and risk management team, we are looking for an entrepreneurial, experienced individual with strategic vision and a desire to shape the future, for a workload of 60-100%.

Areas of responsibility

• Independent consulting and support for Swiss financial service providers (asset managers in accordance with FINIG 17, managers of collective assets in accordance with FINIG 24) in all compliance and risk management matters
• Conducting periodic compliance and risk management controls using the digital compliance and risk management application and in close coordination with clients
• Strategic development of the client offering in the area of compliance, as well as the digital compliance and risk management solution VELA, based on client needs and regulatory requirements
• Technical and content-related development of VELA, as well as gradual assumption of product responsibility for the RegTech solution
• Regulatory market analysis: Ongoing monitoring and analysis of national and international developments in legislation, case law, industry recommendations, and best practices in financial market law (FIDLEG, FINIG, GwG, GwV-FINMA, SRO regulations), as well as derivation and implementation of practical recommendations for action
• Further development of Velaw’s market presence
• Conception and implementation of FIDLEG and GwG-relevant training courses and further education for client advisors
• Support for regulatory implementation and approval procedures, particularly in connection with FINMA licenses
• Ensuring regulatory conformity by verifying compliance with all relevant national and international regulatory requirements
• Handling complex compliance issues, particularly in the areas of asset management, financial services, and AML/KYC
• Creation, maintenance, and further development of regulatory documentation such as directives, checklists, statements, and reports
• Communication with authorities and institutions, particularly FINMA, SROs, associations, and other relevant organizations
• Management and implementation of specialist projects both internally and in client mandates

What you bring

• Higher education with a focus on compliance, law, and/or finance, or comparable qualification; basic legal training is an advantage
• At least 10 years of relevant professional experience in the compliance environment of a financial institution or a supervisory authority in Switzerland, particularly in the areas of AML/KYC, internal control system, audit, risk management, and regulatory compliance
• Sound knowledge of financial market law (FIDLEG, FINIG, GwG, GwV-FINMA, FINMA circulars, SRO regulations) as well as corporate and contract law
• Knowledge in the area of collective investment schemes and their regulation is an advantage
• Very good German and English skills, both written and spoken; additional language skills, especially French, are desirable
• Distinct IT affinity and interest in digital solutions and RegTech topics
• Good knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Structured, precise, and solution-oriented working style with a quick grasp of concepts
• Entrepreneurial, decisive, assertive, and team-oriented personality with a confident demeanor and strong communication skills
• Independent working style with a high degree of personal initiative
